Australian charity to hold outdoor music show in HCM City

ietNamNet Bridge - An outdoor music festival to raise funds for charity will be held in Ho Chi Minh City next month by the non-profit Loreto Vietnam-Australia Program under the auspices of the Australian Consulate General.

The “LoretoFest 2007 Concert” will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Program which is currently supporting nine projects, aimed at helping over 3,000 poor, handicapped and disadvantaged children in Viet Nam.

The show will begin at 4 p.m. on December 1 at the RMIT University campus in District 7.

On stage will be Viet Nam Idol 2007 Phuong Vy, famous saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan, the Microwave Rock Band and other Vietnamese and international singers and dancers.

“This will be a terrific evening of entertainment showcasing some excellent performers as well as providing an opportunity to sample some of the best of Australia’s food and wines available”, said said Mr. Mal Skelly, Australian Consul General in HCMC.

“Not only will this be a fun evening out but by buying entry tickets people will also be contributing directly to the welfare of many of the city’s underprivileged children through the Loreto Vietnam-Australia Program (LVAP)”, he added.

All proceeds raised from this musical gala will go to disadvantaged children in Viet Nam. Further information is available at www.loretofest.org

LVAP, which has been in Viet Nam for 10 years, is planning to build a new campus for the Binh Minh (Sunrise) School For Mentally-Challenged Children in the city.
