JOLINA CHOSEN AS ONE OF PINOY IDOL JUDGES

Multi-awarded singer-actress and multi-media icon JOLINA MAGDANGAL was recently chosen as one of the judges of Pinoy Idol, a reality talent search TV program. It is the Philippine counterpart of the Amecican Idol. Jolina was ecstatic when she was told that she was chosen. Asked how she feels about it, she said “my achievements and my years of experience and training are finally recognized”. It is a known fact in the industry that she started her career when she was 11 years old passing from one audition to another, having trained by topnotch mentors in music, dance and acting. She has proven her worth many times and finally became one of the well-loved and respected celebrities of her time.

Jolina said she had no knowledge that GMA Network executives presented her profile and credentials along with numerous personalities to the FremantleMedia in London for evaluation and approval. She completes the three slots for the judges, two of whom are singer-songwriter and hit-maker OGIE ALCASID and top caliber talent manager and show producer WYNGARD TRACY. GMA Network execs say that credibility of the three judges based on their impressive credentials was the prime consideration of franchise holder FremantleMedia. Jolina added that “my years of experience and training as a total performer will be my basis for accepting or declining prospective finalists”. “The candidates must possess not only an excellent singing voice and style but also charm and a total personality, deserving to be called a true-blue Pinoy Idol” she quipped. Hosting the show is RAYMOND GUTIERREZ who recently won the Best Host Award together with Jolina.

The production team and the judges are now holding auditions in key cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Selected candidates shall converge in Manila to undergo workshops and different levels of elimination. Airing of the episodes will commence in April and last until August wherein the ultimate winner is chosen.

Jolina added that, in spite of the heavy responsibility and high expectations that rest on her shoulders, she is much honored by her choice as one of the judges. The constant travels, numerous activities and the demands of the show adds up to her already hectic schedule. She is currently the host of The Working President, a weekly news magazine TV program of the Philippine president. She also co-hosts and performs in GMA’s number one daily morning show Unang Hirit and Sunday noontime musical show SOP. She has to drop her upcoming drama show so she can attend to all of her commitments.

She is scheduled to do shows in San Jose and Oxnard, California on the third week of February. She will also start with the shooting of her movie in Europe by the second quarter of this year. Multi-media commercials are already underway including her choice as Ebay.ph style ambassador. Concerts nationwide and overseas are also scheduled throughout the year.

With her killer sked, Jolina still manages to attend to her fashion business and her new hobby in photography. The eternally young celebrity never runs out of energy and surprises. Who knows how many aces are still up her sleeves.
